The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 57-46 victory over Notre Dame on Friday. The victory was just what Vernon-Verona-Sherrill needed coming off of a 71-29 loss in their prior match.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vernon-Verona-Sherrill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Atticus Roque, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Roque hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliijah Donegan, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-12. As for Notre Dame, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill will take on the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Notre Dame, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
