Two dominant guards in Kohl Rosario and Dante Allen are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Florida Christian Patriots will face off against the Riviera Prep Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Florida Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Riviera Prep is ranked sixth).
Florida Christian and Divine Savior Academy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly Florida Christian had to settle for second. They took a hard 70-51 fall against the Sharks.
Meanwhile, Riviera Prep entered their tilt with Westminster Christian with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Riviera Prep blew past Westminster Christian 76-34 at home on Saturday.
Riviera Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Allen out in front who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Allen has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Fuentes, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 assists.
Florida Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Riviera Prep, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-8.
Florida Christian was dealt a bruising 70-38 defeat at the hands of Riviera Prep in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Florida Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
