The East Valley Red Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Selah Vikings at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with East Valley sitting on ten straight wins and Selah on seven.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between East Valley and Othello, and East Valley kept the tradition alive. The Red Devils came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 9-5 on Friday.

Presley Weatherley made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, East Valley let Tia Ramynke and Sophiya Castaneda run wild. Ramynke went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Castaneda got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Elise Heater also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Selah made easy work of Grandview on Friday and carried off an 18-4 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Like East Valley, Selah also got a great game from a two-way player: Aspin Grubenhoff. On the mound, Grubenhoff tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hailey Christianson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Grubenhoff has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Grubenhoff went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Christianson got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Laci Ross was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Kyra Rudick was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Selah hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grandview struck out eight times.
East Valley pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Selah, their record now sits at 10-1.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .444. However, it's not like Selah struggles in that department as they've averaged .490. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Valley took their win against Selah when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
