The Pikeville Panthers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 68-37 win over Southwestern. Pikeville might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three contests by 31 points or more this season.
Despite the loss, Southwestern still got an impressive performance from Kinsley Molden, who scored 17 points. Molden scored a full 45.9% of Southwestern's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Payton Acey, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Pikeville's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 42.57 points. As for Southwestern, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Pikeville and Paintsville will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Paintsville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Pikeville likes a good challenge. Southwestern and Meade County will face off at 1:45 p.m. on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Meade County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Friday.
