The Barren County Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Lexington Catholic Knights at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Barren County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Paul Laurence Dunbar.
Sutton Hyde was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Barren County is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-6 otherwise. Hyde was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Back at the plate, Axel Dysholm was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Price Thompson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Barren County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paul Laurence Dunbar struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Lexington Catholic ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against Paul Laurence Dunbar by a score of 6-2. Six seems to be a good number for the Knights as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Jack Reeves tossed a big game, tossing 8.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bennie Lawrence, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Eamon Hughes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
The win (which was Lexington Catholic's third in a row) raised their record to 8-3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Barren County, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
