It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Trinity Catholic Celtics can now relate to. They took a 31-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. Trinity Catholic's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Although Trinity Catholic took the loss, they still got scores from Austin Holder, Davon Jones, and Jamarkus Starkes.
Even if they lost, Trinity Catholic's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Cardinal Mooney's QB was sacked seven times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Zach Johnson and Jacob Dyer who racked up 5.5 sacks between them.
Cardinal Mooney's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Mccorkle, who picked up 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Mccorkle's longest reception was for an incredible 77 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Valentino, who threw for 176 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes.
Trinity Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Cardinal Mooney, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
