The McAllen Bulldogs will take on the Vela Sabercats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times McAllen and Pioneer have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. McAllen fell just short of Pioneer by a score of 16-14. One positive for the Bulldogs, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Giada Farias made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and two triples. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Katalyna Rojas was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Farias wasn't the only one working in the hit department: McAllen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, everything went Vela's way against McAllen Memorial on Tuesday as Vela made off with a 17-6 victory. The game marked the Sabercats' most dominant win of the season so far.
Jaylene Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Vela let Ciara Cantu and Asiah Trevino run wild. Cantu scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4, while Trevino scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Raylee Pearson, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.
McAllen now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Vela, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
McAllen came out on top in a nail-biter against Vela when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will McAllen repeat their success, or does Vela have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
