Salem is on a 12-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Berlin/New Lebanon a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Salem Generals will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Berlin/New Lebanon Mountain Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Salem has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Salem struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (Fort Ann had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Salem fell just short of Fort Ann by a score of 49-46. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Salem in their matchups with Fort Ann: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Salem had strong showings from Blaise Barrett, who scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals, and Josh Harrington, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Harrington scored a full 28.3% of Salem's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kiernan Haskell was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Salem were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 67-39, which was the final score in Berlin/New Lebanon's tilt against Argyle on Thursday.
Salem's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Berlin/New Lebanon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
