The Severance Silver Knights will face off against the Wellington Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Severance is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
Severance barely beat Thompson Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Silver Knights blew past the Eagles 17-9 on Thursday. Considering the Silver Knights have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Karson Beidleman looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Severance got a massive performance out of Finn Wischmeier, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits Wischmeier has posted since back in April. Dom Torres also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Severance kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Wednesday. Wellington never let Liberty Common get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The victory continues a trend for Wellington in their matchups with Liberty Common: they've now won three in a row.
Tanner Gray was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Owen Gabbert, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Severance's record now sits at 16-5. As for Wellington, their record is now 11-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Severance has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wellington struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Severance's way against Wellington in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Severance made off with a 9-1 win. Do the Silver Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
