The A.C. Reynolds Rockets scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 81-51 victory over North Buncombe. Given A.C. Reynolds' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Black Hawks are ranked 345th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Grant Clayton, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Carson Brown and Matthew Ledford certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Brown scored 15 points, while Ledford scored nine points. Bryan Wolfe was another key contributor, scoring two points along with two blocks.
North Buncombe struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as A.C. Reynolds pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.
The victory got A.C. Reynolds back to even at 8-8. As for North Buncombe, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A.C. Reynolds won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Mustangs at 2:30 p.m. on January 27th. Myers Park will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak. As for North Buncombe, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Rams at 7:30 p.m. T.C. Roberson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57 points per game this season.
