Baseball Recap: Bluffton Wins Going Away Against Colleton County

Bluffton barely beat Colleton County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Bluffton put the hurt on Colleton County with a sharp 13-1 victory on Friday. Considering the Bobcats have won four matchups by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Bluffton got a great performance from James Bazzel as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Bazzel also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bluffton is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Tyler Wolfe was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Bluffton: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dawson Kunze, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Bluffton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Bluffton pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Colleton County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7-2 record this season.

Bluffton will welcome May River at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Colleton County, they will head out on the road to challenge Hilton Head Island at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Colleton County is facing Hilton Head Island at the right time seeing as Hilton Head Island is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
