The Russell Broncos can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They claimed a resounding 57-6 win over Southwestern Heights on the road. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Russell's nine-point performance the contest before.
Mason Rohr had a dynamite game for Russell, throwing for 288 yards and five touchdowns on only 19 passes, while also punching in two rushing scores. Another player making a difference was Walker Middleton, who gained 156 total yards and two touchdowns.
Russell's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Roman Hernandez and Brody Pfannenstiel who racked up six sacks between them.
When it comes to explaining why Southwestern Heights lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brayan Ramirez. Despite the final result, he rushed for 95 yards, and also caught a touchdown.
Russell's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Southwestern Heights, their defeat was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8.
Russell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Southwestern Heights also has no future games currently scheduled.
