If the Chaputnguak Shaman were feeling good off their 61-38 takedown of the Nuniwarmiut Herders on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Chaputnguak took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nelson Island on Friday. If Chaputnguak hoped to take revenge for the 69-58 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Chaputnguak's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Felagai Laumea, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Matthew, who scored 12 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nelson Island to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nate Nelson, who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Brennan Lincoln, who scored 17 points.
Chaputnguak now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Nelson Island, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
