The Cathedral Prep Ramblers pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 76-64 to Neumann-Goretti. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (63), Cathedral Prep still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Cathedral Prep saw an underclassman step up: Nando Mirarchi scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. Mirarchi hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Thompson, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Leading Neumann-Goretti to victory were Larenzo Jerkins and Khaafiq Myers. Jerkins dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds, while Myers scored 30 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Myers has scored all season. Torrey Brooks Jr. was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Cathedral Prep and nudges their season record down to 3-7. As for Neumann-Goretti, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Cathedral Prep will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Niagara Falls at 6:00 p.m. Niagara Falls is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Neumann-Goretti won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lincoln Park Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. One thing working in Lincoln Park Performing Arts' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
