Jay and Northview are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Royals will take on the Chiefs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northview's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Jay hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Royals never let Central get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Friday.
Landon Golden made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Golden was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grayson Shehan, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Jay's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-2 (and 5-8 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Northview had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against Laurel Hill on Monday as they made off with a 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Chiefs in their matchups with the Hoboes: they've now won seven in a row.
Braynt Mason was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Kelan Jury was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Northview hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Laurel Hill struck out seven times.
Jay's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Northview, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jay has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Jay skirted past Northview 5-3 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Royals repeat their success, or do the Chiefs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
