The Episcopal Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Hampton Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with ten consecutive losses dating back to last season for Episcopal and six for Hampton.
Last Friday, Episcopal had to suffer through a rough 48-8 loss at the hands of Hazen. Episcopal was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-0.
Despite the defeat, Episcopal saw an underclassman step up: Turner Harbour rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Harbour was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards.
Meanwhile, Hampton took a serious blow against Junction City on Friday, falling 49-6.
Episcopal's loss was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Murfreesboro and 7-1 Carlisle (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70.9% over those games). As for Hampton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Everything came up roses for Episcopal against Hampton when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 42-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Episcopal since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
