The Dos Palos Broncos suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-27 loss at the hands of Coalinga. Dos Palos was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-12.
Several Broncos players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacquez Jones, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of JT Gomez, who scored six points.
Coalinga was led to victory by Jaden Pena and Damyen Tamayo. Pena scored 13 points along with nine assists, while Tamayo dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Tamayo pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ryan Howard, who scored 15 points.
Dos Palos' loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-13. As for Coalinga, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.
Dos Palos will head out on the road to square off against Avenal at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Avenal and Dos Palos are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Coalinga won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against El Capitan at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th.
