The First Flight Nighthawks were the 74-66 winner over the Northern Nash Knights when they last played one another back in November, but their luck changed this time around. First Flight took a 83-76 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northern Nash on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (58), First Flight still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why First Flight lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mason Dobie. Despite the final result, he scored 37 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Dobie's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carson Hahne, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, First Flight were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northern Nash only posted four assists.
Randall King was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Izeal Mallory, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds.
First Flight's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-4. As for Northern Nash, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
First Flight will head out on the road to face off against Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Northeastern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday. Northern Nash won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Farmville Central at 6:00 p.m. on December 9th. Farmville Central will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
