After flying high against the Wood-Ridge Blue Devils last Friday, the St. Mary Gaels came back down to earth. St. Mary took a 57-43 bruising from Ramapo on Sunday. St. Mary has struggled against Ramapo recently, as their matchup on Sunday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Ramapo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryan Goldman led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Goldman scored 15 or more points. Peyton Seals was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
St. Mary's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3. As for Ramapo, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
St. Mary will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Becton at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Becton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 296th, while St. Mary is ranked 61st). As for Ramapo, Ramapo and Don Bosco Prep will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
