The Mt. Zion Eagles pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 82-61 walloping at the hands of Christian Heritage. Mt. Zion has struggled against the Lions recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Mt. Zion still got an impressive performance from Payton Waters, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Waters, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Mt. Zion's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-11. As for Christian Heritage, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.
Mt. Zion won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Haralson County is no doubt hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses. Christian Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
