Basketball Recap: Avery Coffin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Maclay over Chiles

Maclay lost against Chiles back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Maclay Marauders fell to the Chiles Timberwolves 53-49. The Marauders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Marauders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Avery Coffin, who posted 17 points. That's the most points Coffin has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Lunt, who put up eight points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Maclay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chiles only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.

Chiles got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Bundrage out in front who had 12 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Bundrage is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Angel Medina was another key player, putting up 13 points and four steals.

Maclay's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Chiles, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Maclay wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-58 victory against Peach County on the 19th. As for Chiles, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-44 loss against Marianna on the 19th.
