This season hasn't been kind to the Cornerstone Academy Cougars, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They fell 49-36 to Ocala Christian on Tuesday. Cornerstone Academy has struggled against Ocala Christian recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Cornerstone Academy had strong showings from Alexi Xajl-melendez, who scored 12 points, and Josiah Espy, who scored 11 points. Espy scored a full 30.6% of Cornerstone Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachary Medved, who scored six points.
Cornerstone Academy bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Ocala Christian, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5.
Cornerstone Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Countryside Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Ocala Christian is on the road again on Thursday and play against Meadowbrook Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th. Meadowbrook Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
