After flying high against the Western Hills Cougars last Thursday, The Lake Worth Bullfrogs came back down to earth. Lake Worth fell 36-28 to Dunbar on Friday. Lake Worth has struggled against Dunbar recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Defeat or not, Lake Worth got some senior leadership from Damion Hopkins who gained 127 total yards and two touchdowns and Cornell Avington who picked up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Leading Dunbar to victory were Ben Smith and Ja'marion Garrett. Smith rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, while Garrett rushed for 246 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
Lake Worth's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Dunbar, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Lake Worth will head out on the road to face off against Eastern Hills at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dunbar, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kennedale at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Kennedale's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six contests.
