If the Lake Norman Charter Knights were riding high off their 81-44 takedown of the East Rowan Mustangs last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lake Norman Charter took a 75-57 bruising from Northwest Cabarrus on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Lake Norman Charter still got an impressive performance from Braylon Irelan, who scored 32 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Irelan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Major Leak, who scored six points along with three steals.
Northwest Cabarrus' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Rowe, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isaac Woolfolk, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Lake Norman Charter's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Northwest Cabarrus, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Norman Charter will take on Concord at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northwest Cabarrus, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Central Cabarrus at 7:30 p.m. Central Cabarrus knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 games -- so hopefully Northwest Cabarrus likes a good challenge.
