Browne hasn't had much luck against West Point recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bruins will take on the Dragons at 3:45 p.m. Browne has given up an average of 18.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Browne lost 20-5 to Cesar Chavez on Monday.
Browne saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tunisia Rios, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Mia Palacios Ortiz was another, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, West Point waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Monsoon as they made off with a 13-1 victory. Considering the Dragons have won 11 contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
JewelyAnna Grijalva made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Grijalva was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Ellah De La Riva was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Morgan Edwards, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
West Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .536. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in 11 consecutive games.
West Point's record now sits at 16-6. As for Browne, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Browne has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .506. However, it's not like West Point struggles in that department as they've averaged .558. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Browne might still be hurting after the 16-5 loss they got from West Point in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
