Softball Game Preview: Buhach Colony Thunder vs. Los Banos Tigers

The Buhach Colony Thunder are taking a road trip to challenge the Los Banos Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Buhach Colony will be strutting in after a win while Los Banos will be coming in after a loss.

Buhach Colony took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against El Capitan as they made off with a 20-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Gauchos: they've now won five in a row.

Buhach Colony got a great performance from Annika Starling as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Starling a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Peyton Runyan Rocha, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Resendez, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Buhach Colony always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Los Banos was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 9-3 to Atwater.

Los Banos saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mya Arista, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Buhach Colony's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Los Banos, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Buhach Colony skirted past Los Banos 8-7 in their previous meeting last Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunder since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
