East Noble is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 21 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Bellmont on Monday. They fell just short of the Braves by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Braves: they've now lost eight in a row.
Abby Alwine put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Alwine wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Helmkamp, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against Fort Wayne Wayne as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Avianna Vasquez looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April.
At the plate, Maeve Miltner was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Genna Renbarger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for East Noble, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Noble hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. However, it's not like Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger struggles in that department as they've averaged .355. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
