Deer Valley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Estrella Foothills Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Deer Valley never let their opponents score. They breezed by Maryvale at home to the tune of 47-0.
Deer Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dylan English out in front who threw for 187 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Jacob Kreuziger was another key contributor, gaining 105 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Estrella Foothills entered their tilt with Copper Canyon with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Estrella Foothills took their match on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 50-8 victory over Copper Canyon. Estrella Foothills pushed the score to 43-8 by the end of the third, a deficit Copper Canyon had no chance of recovering from.
Estrella Foothills can attribute much of their success to Anthony Horne Jr, who gained 69 total yards and two touchdowns, and Simione Koroush, who rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Lorenzo Ruelas got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 6-3.
Everything came up roses for Deer Valley against Estrella Foothills in their previous matchup back in November of 2021 as the team secured a 38-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Deer Valley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
