Bellingham is 1-7 against Squalicum since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Bellingham Bayhawks will look to defend their home court against the Squalicum Storm at 5:30 p.m. Bellingham has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 13.
Bellingham suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 on Monday. Their rough 63-39 loss to Lakewood might stick with them for a while.
Meanwhile, Squalicum strolled past Sedro-Woolley with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 42-23. Given Squalicum's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Sedro-Woolley is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bellingham's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-12. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.5 points per game. As for Squalicum, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Bellingham might still be hurting after the 56-32 loss they got from Squalicum in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Bellingham avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
