Volleyball Recap: Elk River Takes a Loss

Elk River lost against Sauk Rapids-Rice back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Elks took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Storm. The Elks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Elk River started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 28-30, 25-18, 25-22, 25-16.

When it comes to explaining why Elk River lost, don't look at Addison Hemmer. Despite the final result, she had 31 digs and two assists. Hemmer is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Chandler, who had ten digs and two aces.

Among those leading the charge was Abbey Meinert, who had 14 digs and seven assists. Those seven assists gave her a new career-high.

Elk River's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Sauk Rapids-Rice, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Elk River has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Willmar on the 10th. As for Sauk Rapids-Rice, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against North Branch on the 10th.
