Beekmantown has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Peru Nighthawks at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Beekmantown took their match at home with ease, bagging a 44-12 victory over Plattsburgh. Given Beekmantown's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 218th, while Plattsburgh is ranked 526th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Parker Broughton, who rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Broughton was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards.
Meanwhile, Peru had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three two weeks ago. They claimed a resounding 47-14 victory over Saranac Lake at home.
Sawyer Schlitt was his usual excellent self, rushing for 92 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Schlitt hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. Ethan Breen was another key contributor, throwing for 231 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt.
Beekmantown's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Peru, their win was their fourth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 6-1.
Things could have been worse for Beekmantown, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 33-17 loss to Peru in their previous matchup back in September. Can Beekmantown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
