Grand Island was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Bellevue West. The Islanders came in at 17 in the state poll after placing at number 31 last week.
Grand Island extended the longest winning streak in A District 4 this week by beating the Thunderbirds, 35-27. The victory was the seventh in a row for Jeff Tomlin's team.
The Islanders' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Pierce Almond threw for 84 and 1 touchdown and Seth Roberg had 53 yards receiving. On the ground Andrew Rojas chipped in 53 yards. Ben Witkowski helped Grand Island's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 47 yards.

6-foot-3 quarterback Eliott Gloeb of Fremont is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,693. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Trevor Wojtalewicz. The Grand Island star has 39 catches for 692 yards.
The Islanders made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,695 from 2,534. The advance stemmed from a 35-27 victory over Michael Huffman's team last week.
