Two dominant in Isaiah Nguyen and London Morgan are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Port Neches-Groves Indians will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Rouse Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Port Neches-Groves will be looking to keep their 11-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
With a playoff game on the line, Port Neches-Groves rose to the challenge on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 37-7 victory over Brenham. Considering Port Neches-Groves has won six matches by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Port Neches-Groves' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Nguyen, who rushed for 168 yards, and Shea Adams, who rushed for 39 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Rouse on the road against McCallum on Friday as the squad secured a 55-27 victory. Given Rouse's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 288th, while McCallum is ranked 678th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rouse got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Justin Cannon out in front who rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Cannon was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan, who threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes.
Their wins bumped Port Neches-Groves to 10-1 and Rouse to 8-3.
