Wright is 0-10 against Big Horn since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wright Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Big Horn Rams at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Wright's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
Last Saturday, Wright faced Tongue River in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Wright fell 77-68 to Tongue River. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Big Horn had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 60-40 margin over Sundance. Big Horn has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Big Horn's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Gibson, who scored 19 points along with five steals. Gibson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Adsit, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Wright's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3. As for Big Horn, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Wright came up short against Big Horn in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 59-46. Can Wright avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
