The Calistoga Wildcats will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Esparto Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Calistoga has three straight victories, Esparto has 13 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Calistoga has not done well against Roseland University Prep recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Calistoga secured a 48-43 W over Roseland University Prep.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 78-14, which was the final score in Esparto's tilt against Dixon on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Esparto has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Antonio Seastrunk Jr., who scored nine points. He scored a full 64.3% of Esparto's points, the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Andre Oliver was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Calistoga has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Esparto, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.
