Mountain Valley had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 8-9-1 to make it four. They fell just short of the Dirigo Cougars by a score of 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Josh Pollis was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Mountain Valley is 5-1 when Pollis posts two or more runs, but 3-8-1 otherwise. Sawyer Durant was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
As for Dirigo, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games.
On Dirigo's side, Colin Waugh made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Waugh was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trevor Crosby, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Hudson Lufkin, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Mountain Valley has already played their next contest (against Lake Region), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Dirigo, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-1 loss against Old Orchard Beach on the 11th.
