Ridge Spring-Monetta was dealt a 70-27 loss at the hands of Gilbert. Ridge Spring-Monetta was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-16.
Ridge Spring-Monetta's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kennedy Ligons, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds. Ligons scored a full 40.7% of Ridge Spring-Monetta's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was JaiVell Taylor, who scored 6 points.
It was another big night for Ahleira Leaphart, who scored 23 points along with 5 steals for Gilbert. Leaphart is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last three games she's played. Chanelle Adams was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Ridge Spring-Monetta and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Gilbert, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Ridge Spring-Monetta will head out on the road to face off against Batesburg-Leesville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gilbert, they will be playing at home against Columbia at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Columbia comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
