Baseball Recap: St. Thomas Aquinas Finds Playoff Glory Versus Cooper City

St. Thomas Aquinas had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Cooper City Cowboys on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Thomas Giltner looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Zack Malvasio was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Cole Lasher, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

St. Thomas Aquinas lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in six consecutive contests.

St. Thomas Aquinas has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Cooper City, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.

Coming up, St. Thomas Aquinas will square off against Flanagan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cooper City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
