Orestimba is 1-6 against Hughson since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Warriors will challenge the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Orestimba sitting on three straight wins and Hughson on 11.
Orestimba is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 13-10 victory over Union Mine.
The team relied heavily on Salece Machado, who went 2-for-5 with four runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Rae Oliveros was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one triple and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Orestimba kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Hughson's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They never let Mesa Verde get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. Considering the Huskies have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Emma Carne made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Presley Wells and Madison Collins did most of the damage at the plate: Wells went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Collins went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Peyton Moring, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Orestimba's record is now 18-10. As for Hughson, their record now sits at 20-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Orestimba has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Hughson struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Orestimba suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Hughson in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
