The Grace Christian Patriots will take on the Santa Fe Catholic Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are still undefeated (Grace Christian has ten wins dating back to last season, while Santa Fe Catholic has three).
On Friday, Grace Christian needed a bit of extra time to put away Foundation Christian Academy. They had just enough and edged out the Panthers 6-5. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by just one run.
Meanwhile, Santa Fe Catholic hadn't done well against All Saints' Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Santa Fe Catholic blew past All Saints' Academy 19-2.
Claire McGee made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
In other batting news, Jackie Miranda was incredible, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Declyn Keyser was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
Santa Fe Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .521. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as All Saints' Academy only posted an OBP of .125.
Grace Christian's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.4 runs. As for Santa Fe Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
