Softball Recap: Wilmington Wins Going Away Against West Middlesex

Wilmington came out on top against West Middlesex on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Greyhounds put the hurt on the Big Reds with a sharp 9-3 win. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Skylar Leishman was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Harlan, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kyla Baney, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Wilmington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Middlesex only managed three hits.

Wilmington's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for West Middlesex, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Wilmington will welcome Sharpsville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Middlesex, they will venture away from home to square off against Rocky Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
