The Galt Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 61-33 loss at the hands of El Dorado. While losing is never fun, Galt can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1268th, while El Dorado is ranked 633rd).
Galt's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zavion Mitchell, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Mitchell has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Cagle, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Jeremy Kimber was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 14 points, 18 rebounds, and ten assists for El Dorado. That's the first time this season that Kimber posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Logan Baker, who scored 20 points.
Galt's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-13. As for El Dorado, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Galt will take on Liberty Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Liberty Ranch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for El Dorado, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Union Mine at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Union Mine is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
