North Mesquite is 5-0 against the Cougars since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The North Mesquite Stallions will look to defend their home court against the Adams Cougars at 7:00 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Micah Vaughn and Keiontay Marsh.
North Mesquite managed to keep up with the Wranglers until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. North Mesquite suffered a rough 64-44 loss at the hands of the Wranglers. While losing is never fun, North Mesquite can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 441st, while the Wranglers are ranked 188th).
Meanwhile, even though Samuell scored an imposing 64 points on Tuesday, Adams still came out on top. Adams escaped with a win against the Spartans by the margin of a single free throw, 65-64. The win made it back-to-back wins for Adams.
Terell Toomas was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Altrie Farris, who scored 12 points.
North Mesquite's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-12. As for Adams, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-17.
North Mesquite beat the Cougars 69-60 in their previous meeting back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Toomas, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will North Mesquite still be able to contain Toomas? There's only one way to find out.
