The Corliss Trojans suffered their biggest defeat since November 22, 2023 on Thursday. They were beaten by Carver 62-33. While losing is never fun, Corliss can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 688th, while Carver is ranked 318th).
Corliss lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being D?Mario Sanders, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Joshua Pegues, who scored ten points.
Corliss bumped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road. As for Carver, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corliss will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Morgan Park at 4:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Carver, they will challenge Harlan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harlan knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Carver likes a good challenge.
