On Friday, Manalapan took a serious blow against Mainland Regional, falling 56-20. While losing is never fun, Manalapan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Mainland Regional is ranked ninth).
When it comes to explaining why Manalapan lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Dougherty. Despite the final result, he threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns.
Manalapan now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Mainland Regional, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Manalapan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mainland Regional will square off against Colts Neck at TBD on Friday. Colts Neck is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
