Southern Huntingdon County has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Mount Union Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Huntingdon County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, Southern Huntingdon County had to suffer through a rough 54-12 loss at the hands of West Branch.
Despite the defeat, Southern Huntingdon County saw an underclassman step up: Eli Rice rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Mount Union had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They put the hurt on Juniata Valley with a sharp 35-14 win. The score was close at the half, but Mount Union pulled away in the second half with 27 points.
Mount Union found their leader in underclassman Nasir Collins, who rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Je'saun Robinson and his 102 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Mount Union's win.
Southern Huntingdon County's loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. As for Mount Union, their victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-1.
Southern Huntingdon County came up short against Mount Union in their previous meeting back in September of 2022, falling 56-45. Will Southern Huntingdon County have more luck at home instead of on the road?
