The Jefferson Panthers came tearing into Thursday's match with 15 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 74-61 victory over Broadwater. Given Jefferson's advantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Broadwater is ranked 62nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jefferson was led to victory by Brooklyn Miller and Ryian Eveland. Miller scored 18 points along with seven steals and five rebounds, while Eveland dropped a double-double on 19 points and 20 rebounds. Eveland is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of MacKenzie Layng, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Jefferson's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points per game. As for Broadwater, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson will take on Manhattan Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Jefferson's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 13 matches. As for Broadwater, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Ennis at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. One thing working in Ennis' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games.
