Softball Recap: Dinuba Extends Winning Streak to Six

Dinuba waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Reedley Pirates. While the Emperors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Neveah Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dinuba let Cambria Alderete and Hope Diaz run wild. Alderete went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base, while Diaz went 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Alderete launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Patterson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Dinuba lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Dinuba pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Reedley, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dinuba will welcome Golden West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dinuba's pitchers better be ready for this one: Golden West has averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Reedley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tulare Union at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
