West Allegheny added to the longest winning streak in WPIAL AAA Parkway this week by beating Franklin Regional, 21-12. The victory was the 12th in a row for the team.
The longest pass in the league this week was acheived by Central Valley's John George. The Warriors beat Thomas Jefferson when he connected with B>J> Powell on a 56-yard throw and catch.
Central Valley's dynamic duo of George and Powell proved to be unstoppable against the Jaguars, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. George threw for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns and Powell had 83 yards receiving. Jordan Whitehead helped Central Valley's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 24 yards.
6-foot-3 quarterback Julian Cox of New Castle is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,381. He has also thrown 18 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is DJ Payne. The Montour star has 23 catches for 509 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Mark Lyons' team and West Allegheny. The Warriors enters the contest ranked 20th in the state, while Bob Palko's team ranks 19th.
The Indians' offense has scored 458 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Central Valley has allowed only 87 on the year.
