Van Vleck has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Brazos Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Van Vleck focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday.
Van Vleck posted their biggest win yet this season on Wednesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 60-22 win over Harmony School of Discovery. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-6.
Van Vleck can attribute much of their success to Corey Austin, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Micah Burks, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Burks continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ridge Huerta, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Brazos suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They were beaten by Hitchcock 95-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Brazos has suffered against Hitchcock since January 5, 2021.
Van Vleck has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Brazos, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
Van Vleck didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Brazos in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 45-40 victory.
